Tonight I presented at Commonwealth Bank's CBD branch on 'Effective Use of Social Media for Microbusiness'. It was such an honour to be chosen by SpringUp Australia to demonstrate how social media and online branding can grow your business and how to create content that engages your customers. Below I have shared a large portion of my speech and I hope it can help some of you too! Effective Use of Social Media for Microbusiness To me there is no question of the growing importance of social media. It has become our norm, changed the way we connect with others and given us a ... read more
Recipe ~ Vegetable Curry
When I started cooking I only ever created healthy paleo/keto meals and desserts. Since then I have made more traditional mains, snacks and desserts and I can't tell you how much easier it is to make something taste amazing with the addition of sugar etc! Lately though, I've returned to cooking healthier options (well... in amongst some treats for those I love). However, this healthy curry has been quite the hit between Sarah, Ben and I. So I thought I'd share it here for all of you! Vegetable Curry Ingredients: Olive Oil 1 Onion 3 Sticks of Celery 1/2 Cauliflower Head (Cut into ... read more
Vietnam Diaries ~ Part Two – Mekong Delta
Mekong Delta - 3 Day Tour Daniel's part of the trip was next and boy oh boy, he did not disappoint! The Mekong Delta, located in Southern Vietnam is a vast maze of rivers, canals, swamps and islands which has been named a biological treasure trove as more than 1000 animal species were discovered living there. So as you can tell, a trip along the Mekong Delta is the perfect way to get a taste of the Vietnamese countryside. We took a 3 day tour to the Cambodian border and it was by far the best $100 I have ever spent. DAY 1 We got to know the lush scenery of rural Vietnam while ... read more
Vietnam Diaries ~ Part One – Saigon
Lately, I've had a few people ask my recommendations on Vietnam and Cambodia. This time 2 years ago I was exploring its beautiful scenery and having the time of my life. So I decided to make it my next few blog posts, since there is way too much to say in one about these amazing countries! I always keep a travel journal (notes on my iPhone on more recent travels), which I then design into a photobook on my return, so below you can read my experiences at the time, rather than a couple year old reflection. And enjoy my favourite snaps from the trip! I accompanied my friend Coreena, her ... read more
27 lessons I’ve learnt in my 27 years
Birthdays are always a time to reflect, but even more so when yours falls in December like mine does. Reflecting on the past year, reflecting on past birthdays, but most of all, reflecting on how much one has grown. I'm not even close to being perfect but I do try my hardest to be good, kind and spread positivity wherever I go. I'm overly enthusiastic and love with my whole heart. I enjoy the small, silly things in life. I think if you can do that, you will always be happy. So here are just 27 of the things I have learnt in my 27 years of life. (What an old fart haha). You are not ... read more
Recipe ~ Orange Poppyseed & Vanilla Layered Sponge Cake
After Ben struggled to choose between an Orange Poppyseed or Vanilla Cake, deciding he wanted both, I created the below. While it may seem complicated, it's super easy, just time consuming. I've had several people ask for the recipe, so here it is! It really has been quite the hit! Orange Poppyseed & Vanilla Layered Sponge Cake Ingredients: Vanilla Sponge Layer 2 Eggs 1/3 Cup Caster Sugar 1 Tsp Vanilla Essence 1/2 Cup Self Raising Flour Orange Poppyseed Layer 3 Eggs 1 Cup Caster Sugar 100g Ground Almonds (I did them in my food processor and then sifted them over the mixture. ... read more
Little Miss Bali
So as my title suggests, I think I've turned into Little Miss Bali! Same overseas location within 5 months... That's unheard of for me! Though I must say, Jetstar make it so affordable and with only just over 5 hours of flying time, it's a winner. This trip, I was lucky enough to be joined by my friend Mark, affectionately known as 'Prickles' who I met while exploring Berlin a couple years ago now. We spent 6 weeks together travelling through Scandinavia, the Baltics, Russia and Poland so I knew we could handle 6 days in beautiful Bali. While I had travelled here earlier this year in May ... read more
Bali Highlights
As I get ready for my return trip to Bali this October, I find myself reminiscing on my last trip in May and thought I would compile a list of highlights and my favourite places. Usually when I travel I have a list of Must Do’s to see in that country. Bali was no different. Luckily, I still had plenty of downtime to enjoy cocktails and relax poolside. Bali is an island paradise and only five hours flight from where I live in Brisbane, making it a quick and affordable getaway. Every area in Bali offers a completely different vibe and experience, so here is a quick guide to help you plan ... read more
